Chemicals giant Sabic of Saudi arabia announced its plans to build four new technology centres across Asia, at a cost of around $500 million, two of the facilities will be built in Saudi Arabia, with the others in China and India. The company says that work on SPADC will be finished in 2013, and will focus on plastics for sectors including automotive, packaging and construction. Between them, the two Saudi centres are set to create around 150 jobs. The Sabic research centre in India will be based in Bangalore, according to Sabic “will focus primarily on diverse areas of research in chemistry, material science, process engineering, analytical and application technology.” As with SPADC, it is scheduled to open in Q2 of this year.
