The region’s export growth of South America (most percentage of growth went to Asia) only was surpassed by Africa and the Middle East.

South America’s Exports grew by 26% and Imports increased by 24%, but the growth of exports is due to a 23% increase in prices yet only a 3% increase in volume. Intraregional exports are in general, less dynamic than extra-regional exports.

The trade surplus  is primarily concentrated in 7 countries, that in order by more GDP per capita are:  Chile (41º in ranking world: 321 billion of dollars total GDP), Argentina (22º: 743 billion) , Brazil (7º, 2.356 billion), Venezuela (33º, 402 billion) , Colombia (28º : 503 billion), Peru (38º : 327 billion)  and Bolivia  (88º: 55,2 billion).
