Turkish central bank raises rates (By Sylodium Import-Export directory)

Turkey's central bank raised its lending rate to prevent a slide in the lira. The bank's repo policy rate rose to 4.50 percent and yesterday borrowing rate was kept at 3.50 percent. Analysts had forecast that all rates would remain unchanged. The lira rose to 1.9420 against the dollar after the announcement. The yield on 10-year bonds fell to 9.14 percent from 9.25 percent.
