Example of sustainability. (By Sylodium, global import export directory).

Can the over-extraction of resources have financial consequences?

Not only for environmental reasons, also for economic reasons, it is important for international trading companies to develop sustainable strategies.

Obviously, trade allows the the movement of manufactured goods from where they may be most efficiently produced to where they are to be consumed and the movement of industrial raw materials in the same way.

For example, Stemcor (British Company and one of the world’s largest independent steel traders, with a network of offices in 45 different countries) has developed approaches to be more careful about extracting the iron ore used for making steel. They facilitate the efficient use of mineral resources through the upgrading of low grade ores otherwise regarded as waste, and they also participate in the growing trade of scrap metal that is recycled for fresh steel production increasing their benefits.
