How Technology Will Help Workers Learn The Skills They Need To Stay Employable

While AI will inevitably replace many jobs, it will also serve to educate employees to take on their next challenges. Christopher Pappas, expert in training management software and founder of the online resource eLearning Industry, explains in a blog post how technology and virtual training will change education

Correct, but, how many stupid things can be done? what do you think about this?

Digitisation also has the greatest employment effect. According to the World Bank statistics, every 10% increase in broadband penetration will lead to 2% to 3% increase of employment rate. In 2016, China’s digital economy created 2.8 million jobs, accounting for 21% of the total new jobs; South Koreaese government’s 2015 White Paper on Information and Communications indicates, if small businesses can fully adopt ICT technologies such as cloud services, they will be able to create about 200,000 jobs.

D-economy gets Chinese characteristics

Online, connected and integratedeconomic sectors, several industries, emerging fields ride the technology wave

In the "new era", digital economy, or D-economy, with Chinese characteristics is becoming an integral part of real economy, potentially emerging a role model for the rest of the world.

Perhaps, nothing exemplifies this trend more than the advent of the "digital identity" (D-ID for short, or virtual ID) for citizens.

The D-ID promises to rationalize existing multiple IDs-passport, social security card, library card, local transport card, what have you.

What's more, the day when the D-ID can incorporate all of them on a single chip-based card, or even in a quick-response or QR code, may not be far off, industry experts said

China hopeful of creating more jobs in SA, Africa

People's Republic of China ambassador Lin Songtian put emphasis on the importance of investing in the country and creating a production hub to export to other African countries in order to create more jobs.

He said job creation was the answer to many problems, as he took members of the media on a tour of the Hisense electronic factory in Atlantis yesterday.

The event was also aimed at celebrating the success of Chinese-South African co-operation.

Lin said the company had created more than 700 local jobs and 3 000 indirect jobs.

Artificial intelligence and data analytics in India

Advances in artificial intelligence and data analytics are propelling innovation in many parts of the world. China, for example, has committed $150 billion towards its goal of becoming a world leader by 2030. And while the United States government is investing only $1.1 billion in non-classified AI research, its private sector is spending billions in fields from finance and healthcare to retail and defense

Yet India is playing catch-up in these vital areas. It devotes only 0.6 percent of GDP to R&D, well below the 2.74 percent in the United States and 2.07 in China

In the new digital economy, Taiwan may ‘outsmart’ rivals including Singapore

Once touted as among the fabled "Asian Tigers", the Taiwan economy has fallen dramatically behind its counterparts including Singapore, Hong Kong and South Korea.

But after being mired in the economic doldrums for decades, Taiwan – which is the home of hardware giants Acer, ASUS, Foxconn and HTC – could be better poised than its regional rivals to ride the technological wave, said experts, citing its private sector capabilities in artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), and autonomous vehicles for example.

While Taiwan has the potential to literally outsmart its rivals in the new digital economy, the experts noted that for too long, it had been focused on the manufacturing of hardware – instead of software which is where the money is.

FOURTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION. Are we there yet?

ICT Investment Key To Fuelling Africa’s Digital Growth

First of all, it is important to have a master plan to direct investment and attract the best talent. For instance, Germany’s Industry 4.0 and the Made in China 2025 initiatives have been designed to make the manufacturing industries in these countries intelligent by using ICT. Under the Smart Community strategy of the Malaysian government, the digital economy has grown to make up 17% of total GDP within just 3 years, which makes it one of the world’s highest ranking countries in this regard. In this information age, development of ICT should be prioritized on a par with other forms of infrastructure and basic services crucial to society such as electricity, water, roads and bridges.
